If someone you know trains Muay Thai, kickboxing or boxing, their gym bag already says a lot about them: wraps drying on the radiator, gloves that need airing out, and at least one shirt from a fight they went to.
Strikers are easy to shop for once you know what they burn through. Here are ten gifts that get used, not shelved.
For training
1. Hand wraps. Wraps wear out and go missing constantly. A few pairs of 180-inch Mexican-style wraps is a small gift they'll use every session.
2. Glove deodorisers. Cedar or charcoal inserts keep gloves from smelling like a locker room. Their training partners will thank you too.
3. A skipping rope. Every striking gym starts with rope. A good speed rope with bearings is a cheap upgrade that makes a real difference.
4. A training rash guard. Clinch work and sparring are easier in a top that stays put and dries fast. Our Muay Thai rash guard: Move List: Teep turns the push kick into an arcade move list.
5. Muay Thai shorts. Wide-leg shorts are made for kicking. If you're unsure of their size, a gift card to their gym's pro shop works well.
For outside the gym
6. A shirt that reps their style. Fighters love wearing the sport outside the gym. Try Final Boss Tiger, a Muay Thai tiger boss in retro pixel art, or browse all our Muay Thai shirts.
7. A hoodie for fight camp. Early runs and cold gyms call for a warm layer. Loading Fight Camp is made for anyone deep in camp.
8. A tank for hot gyms. Pad rounds in summer are brutal. A breathable boxing tank keeps them cool.
9. Recovery gear. Shins, knuckles and shoulders take a beating. A massage gun, foam roller or a bag of Epsom salts goes a long way.
10. Tickets to a local fight night. Watching live fights is the best motivation there is, and it's a gift you can share.
